Situation:

The governing body of nurses wished to determine the need for, awareness of, and response to an educational program on client abuse.

Method:

A random sample of 1027 nurses was provided to IntelliPulse for the baseline and follow-up telephone surveys conducted at their home telephone number. A sample methodology was developed to ensure sufficient sample sizes by type of nurse and employment setting.

Outcome:
|
The reports examined the incidence of witnessing or hearing about patient abuse by nurses, trends in the types of abuse and the characteristics of the abusers and patients, and awareness of the prevention program.
